Richard (pictured left) spent 31 years at Durban Preparatory High School, where he started as Head of Department in 1982 and was privileged to serve as Headmaster from 1988 to 2013.

As a boy he enjoyed an adventurous and happy primary schooling education at Tweefontein Primary ( Ogies ), a very rewarding and enriching high schooling as a boarder at Pretoria Boys High School, enlightened training as a teacher at Natal Teachers Training College, Pietermaritzburg, and a solid grounding as a teacher at Merchiston Preparatory School from 1969 and Head of Department 1977 to 1981.

Richard is very happily married to Lyn. He has two working daughters living in Auckland, New Zealand; Amy is a film and animation producer and Zoe is in marketing and business. Richard also has two step sons, Warren and Brett.

He has a special interest in art, movies, motor cars, fishing, golf, rugby and sport in general. He is passionate about unlocking curiosity and talent, within children, teachers, leaders and teams.


Ross Nevette

Ross

Founder and owner of Earth Landscapes, Ross Nevette has twenty years experience in the landscape industry; with projects ranging from private gardens, and business parks, to green-roofs and rehabilitation projects.  His focus is on creating inspirational gardens, that are a combination of his clients vision, his imagination and practical thinking.  Ross – a worship leader at his local church – is married to Michelle, and together they have a daughter – Emily.




Barbara McLean

Barbara McLean is the Operational Manager at Bright Site, an initiative of Unisa’s Department of Social Work in the College of Human Sciences.  Bright Site aims to provide Durban-based Unisa students with relevant social work learning opportunities.  Barbara is the newest member of Soul Action’s board, joining in the year ending 2013.




Jo Douwes

Jo Douwes was born in Durban and attended Durban Girls’ College before leaving the east coast to study at the UCT. Here, she completed a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and Zoology as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Since then, she has worked in a number of different fields including the Freshwater Research Unit at UCT, Seaforth College in Ballito and Umuzi Wethemba KwaJesu HIV/AIDS Centre in Umhlali.

JD

Jo (pictured here on the left) is currently employed in the Environmental Management Department at eThekwini Municipality.  Jo is passionate about people and the environment and believes that caring for both is an essential part of our God-given responsibility here on earth.  She is married to Errol, and the live in Durban.
